Last week, I shared with you some bulk cooking tips to help you out for your weekly meals, instead of having to cook them each night, or go without some healthy snacks in the house.
I hope these served you well, and your now a bulk cooking genius, cause today I’m sharing with you a bunch of slow cooker freezer meals you can bulk up for your month.
Yes, there’s 12 recipes in here – just over 3 weeks worth of meals if you go by my tips.. whattt..
Slow cooker freezer meals are the thing now, besides their sister, ‘dump meals’ which are pretty much the same – all you do is chuck everything into the slow cooker – but these ones are frozen, so you don’t even have to worry about cutting up the damn onions and crying your guts out. Well, ok, maybe just once..
Let’s get a quick shot of me with onion eyes…
Oh yeah, I’m looking beautiful.
Now before I go any further, last week I told you that while you are preparing bulk, don’t forget to figure out a meal for that night to throw in your slow cooker – that way you aren’t cooking all day, and cooking again that night!
So here’s a beauty of a recipe for you, the Slow Cooker Fiesta Chicken by Cookies and Cups. Another dump meal with only a few ingredients, mostly canned, so it’s even more amazing.
Just like bulk cooking, make sure you have a ton of knives, and don’t forget the large ziplock bags you want to put your meals into.
Also, and this is crucial, make sure your meat is not frozen! I always find the best day to bulk cook is the day you get home with the groceries so you don’t have to worry about whether the meat you need is frozen, or the veggies/fruits are fresh enough
(I ‘Click ‘n’ Collect’ though so I purchase online, and pick it up the next day – nooo delivery! – and they haven’t got an order wrong since I’ve done it this way either – a bonus!)
Now when it comes to your meals, I found this tip by New Leaf Wellness,..
‘To save time and money, you double each recipe and make two of each’.
It’s a good tip!
So when you are writing out your bulk SC meal plan, double the serves on each recipe and bag them up twice. This is how I’ve prepped the month’s worth of meals.
4 x beef meals (8 full)
4 x chicken meals (8 full)
4 x vegetarian meals (8 full)
Obviously, you can swap and change the amounts to whichever you like, or what suits your family. I am trying to persuade our household to eat half vegetarian/raw (but they don’t need to know that – I cook the meals!)
So without any more procrastination, let’s get to the meals!
This is another dump meal, so super easy to prep! Just throw in a bag.
When preparing these meals, it would be a hassle to try and wedge in the roast into the bag. Don’t fuss about it. Just leave it out, and defrost the meat the night before you plan to use it. Can’t afford to always do a pot roast? Chuck in some cheap cuts of steak instead.
You know how you hide veggies from your kids? Well I hide beans from my partner. I blended the beans in this recipe, before I mixed it in with the rest of the ingredients – he’s none the wiser but it’s extra protein and iron into him and Mister C (evil laugh)
I would prep two bags for this recipe, one for the beef chunks/broth/onion, and then another for the rest of the ingredients, just so it’s another throw and go.
This recipe is soooo easy! I always like to sizzle the chicken before adding it to the pot, but the fact that it’s optional for this recipe is awesome right?
Follow her instructions and you’re on your way!
Who doesn’t love stroganoff?? Especially when you don’t have to worry about cooking it!
BUTTER CHICKEN!! And pulled chicken at that. YUM!
This one would be easy to prep on a weekend for lunch soups! Especially if you have leftover veggies that are in need of being used before they have to be thrown!
Seriously, you’ll thank me for sharing this recipe with you! It’s amazing!!!
The health in this stew is amazing, well worth trying!
I can”t think of anything better than slow cooked pasta sauce. Just think of the flavour, and you’re right on point with this one!
And there you have it!
3 weeks worth of SC meals to enjoy! That is a ton of cooking time you’ve saved by just a few hours prepping. #lifeissweet
